In short: We want everyone to be able to use AssistiveTechnology.org. If something on this site does not work for you, tell us and we will fix it or get you the information another way.
AssistiveTechnology.org is a division of The Accessibility Clinic Inc. Because our work is about access, we hold this site to the same standard we recommend to others. This page explains what we aim for, what we have done, where the site still falls short, and how to tell us about a problem.
We aim for this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. WCAG is the international standard for accessible web content, and Level AA is the level most laws and policies refer to. We check new and updated pages for heading structure, link wording, color contrast, and keyboard access before they go live.
Every page uses a clear heading structure, so people who use screen readers can move through it section by section. Links describe where they lead instead of saying "click here." Text, buttons, and banners meet WCAG AA color contrast. Each guide starts with a short plain-language summary, and long passages are broken into shorter paragraphs. The site can be used with a keyboard alone and with screen magnification.
This site is built with Google Sites. Some parts of each page, such as the navigation menu, search, and some built-in controls, are provided by Google, and we cannot change how they work. Links to other organizations' websites lead to content we do not control. Some pages explain complex legal topics and are written above a plain-language reading level. We are working to simplify them.
If you have trouble reading or using any part of this site, email info@accessibilityclinic.org. Please tell us the page you were on, what you were trying to do, and the device or assistive technology you were using, if any. If you need information from this site in another format, such as large print or a phone call, let us know and we will work with you to provide it.
